Big Night, Bright Lights!
Join us for a dazzling celebration as we reopen The Z in style! The full New Bedford Symphony Orchestra will be on stage throughout the evening, setting the backdrop for a captivating program of music, dance, and theater. Emmy Award–winning comedian Dulcé Sloan hosts the celebration, guiding us through an unforgettable night of laughter, joy, and artistry.
An Unforgettable Lineup
The evening’s program showcases an extraordinary range of talent. Across 16 captivating pieces, the orchestra sets the emotional tone for every act, weaving a continuous thread of artistry and connection.
Among the highlights: a full performance of Stravinsky’s complete Firebird Suite—a dazzling burst of color, movement, and musical storytelling that promises to stir your spirit. Nationally known baritone and New Bedford native Philip Lima lends his powerful operatic voice to the stage, while New Bedford musician, rapper, and producer Hendrick Hernandez-Resto premieres an original piece with the symphony. Singers and dancers from New Bedford Festival Theatre, including Erin and Matt Ban, Abby Casey, and Brooklyn Toli, deliver Broadway favorites with flair, and interdisciplinary performance artists Michael Winward and Holly Stone bring sweeping, gender-expansive ballroom dance to the stage.
A Historic Night for New Bedford and New Century for The Zeiterion
After two years of anticipation, the curtain is rising once again on the newly renovated Zeiterion Theatre. For the first time, three of the city’s leading cultural organizations—The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, New Bedford Festival Theatre, and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra—will share the stage in a one-night-only concert that honors the heart, soul, and future of the performing arts on the South Coast. This first-time landmark collaboration is more than a performance; it is a joyful homecoming that reaffirms the Zeiterion as a gathering place for creativity, connection, and community.
Together, these performances embody the energy and artistry that make New Bedford a cultural hub, marking the Zeiterion’s return with brilliance and heart.
All students must fill out the emergency contact form prior to attending class.
The Z’s 2021/22 season is on sale to Z Supporters starting July 13. Join our community of supporters and get access before the public on July 27!

For more than 100 years, great artists have taken the stage at The Z, from international stars to beloved local legends. It stands as New Bedford’s last operating theater and is one of the region’s few large gathering places for community and culture. Each season, the Zeiterion Mainstage Series presents performances across genres – dance, music, theatre, comedy, lectures, and film. Inside the beautifully restored theater, more than 1,200 seats beckon audiences to share in experiences that somehow feel both grand and intimate. A new season awaits, full of opportunities for gathering, connection, and inspiration.
The box office is open for ticket sales two hours before a Mainstage performance and one hour before films and performances in the Speakeasy and at Stage Door Live. You can reach the box office by phone at (508) 994-2900 during business hours.
Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged unless the event is cancelled or postponed.
If an event is cancelled or postponed, you will have the option to receive a refund or credit, or you may donate the value of your ticket back to The Z.
A cancellation notice will be posted on this website, as well as:
There is a limit of up to 9 tickets for a single performance. To purchase 10 or more tickets for a single performance, please contact the box office at (508) 994-2900 for a group sale.
A ticket limit helps to ensure fairness in the market and mitigates the possibility of large numbers of seats being stockpiled by third-party sellers. Customers who are not making a group sale but attempt to manipulate or exceed ticket limits may have the entirety of their order(s) for that event cancelled.
At an artist's request, ticket limits may be less than 9 per order for their performance.
The Zeiterion prohibits cameras, sound recorders, and video equipment at performances.
Patrons are welcome to take photos from mobile devices before and after a show.
Include your accessibility requests at time of reservation or purchase.
Please indicate your accessibility requests, including number of accessible seats, at time of reservation or purchase. For online purchases, leave a note in the comments at check-out. We'd like to accommodate all requests, but please note that accessible seating is on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be guaranteed.
No refunds, no exchanges, unless the event is cancelled or postponed.
If you are unable to attend a performance for which you have tickets, please consider giving those tickets to a friend or family member. The Zeiterion does not authorize its tickets for resale through third party sellers.

Please arrive at least 40 minutes before the show to ensure orderly seating of each school group.
Please bring one chaperone for every 10 students.
We strongly recommend bringing one chaperone for every 10 students to ensure child safety and an enjoyable viewing experience for all. We welcome one free chaperone ticket per 10 student tickets with code TEACHER at check-out or reservation.
