Director, Building Operations

The Director of Building Operations is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for the management, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of The Z’s historic theater facility. The Z holds a 99-year ground lease of this city-owned facility. This role ensures the building is safe, fully operational, and welcoming to staff, artists, patrons, and community members. With a deep understanding of public assembly facility environments, the Director oversees all building systems—including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety—while also leading capital planning, regulatory compliance, vendor management, and emergency preparedness.

Director, People & Culture

The Director of People & Culture will be responsible for balancing strategic leadership with the execution of day-to-day HR operations, as a team of one to start with department growth planned in 2026. The Director champions the organization’s mission by fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven workplace and stewarding a thriving organizational culture where employees thrive at every stage of their journey. Through intentional planning, design, and execution this role helps attract top talent and ensures that staff members are supported and empowered throughout their journey, positioning The Z as an employer of choice. The Zeiterion’s internship program provides high school and college students with comprehensive experience working in a non-profit performing arts center. Zeiterion interns can receive training in arts administration in several fields, including development, marketing, education, and patron services.
