The Z’s Creative Classroom offers performing arts classes to learners of all ages and abilities in a variety of mediums. It’s a safe and inviting space for all to explore their curiosity and interest in the arts. To lead these classes, we’ve selected the top teachers, performers, and artists in the Southcoast. Not only do they leverage their talent and experience to bring out the best in each student, these local artists are also employed for work in their craft.

The arts are a powerful tool that deepens our connection to the world and can reveal new ways to see it. That’s why we aim to make Creative Classroom as accessible as possible with a “pay what you can” model. Choose a price at check-out and it will cover the cost of the entire workshop or multi-week course.

Great films move us on many different levels. They fully engage us, open pathways of empathy and excitement that may not have been known, pull at our deepest emotions, enchant us with wonderment, spike our adrenaline, and maybe, if we’re lucky, leave us just a little bit changed…

Join film professor, and Z film curator, MJ Herrup every other Wednesday in October and November to discuss the film basics – from what makes a great shot to the subtleties of sound design – and dive even deeper into the history, reception, and critical analyses of each film.  It’s Film Appreciation 101, but just the fun part, without the grades or pressure. For cinephiles and newbies alike.

For ages 18+. Drop-ins welcome - come to one, come to all four!

Wednesdays, October 13 & 27 and November 10 & 17, 6:00 - 7:15PM

Pay what you choose! Select the price at check-out.

Registered participants will receive a link via email before the class, so be sure to provide a current email address. The virtual classroom will open 10 minutes before the start of class.

This class will use Zoom. You do not need a Zoom account, but you will need to download the free app prior to the start of class. You can find it in the app store or visit https://zoom.us/ to download.
