Led by Liz Bettencourt, this talk will dive into the history of the musical revue in America by delving into not only what the first ever musical revues were like, but also how and why musical revues continued to grow into what they are today.

About Elizabeth Bettencourt
Elizabeth Bettencourt, Ed.D. holds a BFA in Theatre and a BS in Secondary English Education from the University of Rhode Island, a Masters in Reading & Literacy from Endicott College, and a Doctorate in Education from Northeastern University. She has worked for many local theatre companies on both the South Shore and the South Coast, including as director of A Christmas Story for the 2019 season of the Massasoit Community College Theatre, a season that earned the company the 2019 South Shore MA Best of the Best award for first place in Live Theatre. Liz also wrote and co-directed the 30th anniversary tribute concert The Best of Times for New Bedford Festival Theatre in 2019 and served as an artistic associate on NBFT's 2021 virtual production, To Broadway, With Love. Before becoming an instructional coach and education consultant, Liz spent 12 years directing the drama club for Plymouth South High School, where she also taught theatre and English. Liz currently serves as both the Director of Education and the Associate Artistic Director for New Bedford Festival Theatre and is an adjunct theatre instructor at Bristol Community College, where she teaches Theatre History I & II and Musical Theatre Performance and most recently directed Pippin in the spring of 2022.

Tickets purchased through sources other than the Zeiterion box office or official website (www.zeiterion.org) may have substantial service fees above face value and are purchased at your own risk. We do not replace fraudulent tickets. Duplicate, counterfeit or altered tickets will not be honored. We reserve the right to cancel orders linked to predatory scalping practices. On occasion, Zeiterion tickets may be sold via Groupon or an artist through their official site or fan club website.
There is a limit of 9 tickets for each show at the Zeiterion.
Groups and organizations that require more tickets to an event may purchase them directly through Group Sales. Not all events are available for discounts, but we'd be happy to assist you with the purchase. Customers who are not making a group sale but attempt to manipulate or exceed ticket limits may have the entirety of their order(s) for that event cancelled. Ticket limits are in place to ensure fairness in the market and to mitigate the possibility of large numbers of seats being stockpiled by third party sellers. We appreciate our patrons’ cooperation in keeping tickets out of the hands of re-sellers and we are always available to answer questions and provide personal service through our Box Office at (508) 994-2900.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to showtime.
We encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to Schooltime performances to allow for the orderly seating of each school group.
Adults without children are not permitted at Schooltime shows.
Unaccompanied adults are welcome to attend the mainstage presentation when available, but Schooltime performances are for Pre-K through 12 students and teachers, home school communities, neurodiverse community organizations, and caregivers with children.
